HotBot (search engine) was designed and launched in 1996. Its innovations were:
- advanced interface to construct precise queries.
- possibility to default minimized or opened interface.
In keeping with the Wired brand, the launch interface was designed with a strong graphical stance, and with an intent to remove the green progressively.
